Sunday, February 23, 2003 2010 Vancouver residents have voted 64 percent in favour of supporting a bid for the 2010 Winter Olympics. The IOC will elect its host for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games on July 2, 2003. Until then we have to wait and hope we will be the host region. [ back to top ] Saturday, February 22, 2003 2010 The city of Vancouver is part of the Canadian bid for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Today, after years of spending money and putting in a big effort to attract the IOC's attention to this region of the world, Vancouverites are asked to go to the poll and vote if they want the games in their city! This was an election promise of our current mayor Mr. Campbell. Makes me wonder, what the heck is wrong with this picture…? First this vote comes about four years too late. Second, the games are a national event and not some local outing. Third, let's invite the world and have some fun! And never mind the motivation it would give the local economy. [ back to top ] Monday, February 10, 2003 Junk mail I would like to come back to my favorite subject to rant about: junk mail. It has gotten much better since I installed Cloudmark. I don't have to fight battles anymore. The junk comes and goes straight into the trash. In general I think junk mail is really a waste of everything. But there has to be people who make a lot of money from people who actually buy that junk from them. People, don't do it! Boycott spammer junk! As the owner of a miniature online store, of course I am tempted as well to give spam a try. I thought of getting a special web address to host my little store "under cover". I would like to get rich too! So far, I have not yet entered the sad world of spammers though. BTW, if you are a spammer or know one, drop me a note. I am really interested to find out, how lucrative the whole undertaking is. Thank you! Cloudmark performance rating: received 51 junk mails yesterday, it was a Sunday! What ever happened to spending time with your family...? 63% was filtered out. Not too bad! Update (April 06): The software now filters 80% of junk.
