Thursday, January 26, 2006 Privacy my ass! On this day of the year 2006 I tried to set up a by-weekly automated money transfer from my account at the Royal Bank to a joint account at the Bank of Montreal. The lady at the airport branch did not know how to set it up but assured me that it can easily be done online. She also gave me a card with a 1-800-number in case I get stuck. What are the odds of me getting stuck... I am pretty Internet savvy... The first thing I am trying to do at home is setting up that transfer. I am not able to add the account though. I give it countless tries and finally call the help line. Well, the dude at the other end tells me, that what I am trying to do is not possible. One can not set up an automated transfer with another institution. It's a privacy issue. WTF!? I tell him that in Europe one can transfer money to as many accounts as desired until one runs out of money... For heaven's sake I can transfer money both ways from my PayPal account! And that's not even a bank! [ back to top ] Sunday, January 22, 2006
This week's Photo Friday challenge - Pink [ back to top ] Saturday, January 21, 2006 Winter wonderland
We went snowshoeing on Mount Seymour this afternoon. The scenery could not have been more magical. [ back to top ] Thursday, January 19, 2006 Email conversation Schatzi, this morning on the way to work I saw Ron Weesley's owl sitting on a street light just after the bridge. Snow white and beautiful! Love, Response Uhmm... that is nice. However, I think you would have seen Harry Potter's owl. Ron has a tiny brown owl known called Pigwidgeon (known not-so-affectionately as "Pig"). Ron also had a pet rat named "Scabbers" that kept biting him and was often a nuisance. Ron is then disgusted when he learns that Scabbers was actually the animagus Peter Pettigrew. That all said, it is so rare that we see owls - especially the snow white ones - and I would have loved to have seen it. Love! I have now seen four Harry Potter movies and still don't get it straight... [ back to top ] Thursday, January 5, 2006 Derrick Derrick, still my favorite cop show, is moving into the 21st century. Klaus hocked up our VCR to my computer, with some transfer box and software in between. For the last three nights I have been busy transferring videos onto CDs. It's a time consuming process. Once Derrick is digitized all the other video tapes will be converted as well. [ back to top ] New Year's Day, 2006
