Monday, October 30, 2006 Class and style are things that can not be taught Today I received an envelope from the UK with no postage. See scans below. I had to put it on a colored background to better see the piece of paper it was written on. This crazy lady wrote on the back of a torn letter. ![]()

It's a well known fact that covers sell magazines. Rarely did I come across a cover like the one of the current issue of Vanity Fair. It's a beautiful photograph that says a lot. [ back to top ]

[ back to top ] Tuesday, October 10, 2006 $1.65 billion Today Google acquired YouTube for $1.65 billion! I wish Google would pay us advertisers more as money does not seem to be an object. [ back to top ] Sunday, October 8, 2006 Convertible Klaus ran the Victoria marathon today. He again achieved a personal best. As we were talking over dinner he said that he would buy me a BMW convertible if I ran a marathon under 4 hours. He thinks it would take me about a year and a half to get ready. The question now is: how desperately do I want a convertible? [ back to top ] Saturday, October 7, 2006 Shopping As a kid I liked to go shopping in the city for my mom unless I had to purchase toilet paper. I was always supposed to buy the 10-pack as this of course was more economical. But as a kid one really does not want to get caught schlepping a huge package of toilet paper home. That just was not cool. That's why I always opted for the 4-pack which would fit into a shopping bag. Yesterday I went to Walmart in Surrey. I dislike both but I saw a blouse in a magazine ad that I wanted. Well, the blouse was either sold out or not available in Canada. But I bought a large package of toilet paper and two bras. Once again I was hoping that I don't bump into somebody I know. Everything was just so uncool! [ back to top ] Sunday, October 1, 2006 Job Since the beginning of this year I check the websites of several employers I would like to work for. I am not unhappy with my current position(s) but I do think after 10 years it is time to move on. I also would love to go back into management. But since I am happy with the status quo I am obviously in no hurry. About a month ago I came across a job description in the airport environment. The job is tailor made for me except I have no budgeting experience. So my initial decision was not to apply for it. But I was thinking about that job almost every day. So Friday a week ago I checked if the position is still online. It was and I sent them an email asking if the position is still available. And at the same time I wrote the application letter. A week went by and I did not receive an answer which led me to believe that the position has been filled and nobody cares enough to respond. But on Friday night, a week later, I got a response that the job is still available. It probably will take weeks for them to get back to me regarding my application... [ back to top ] |
