Booking flights

Vancouver

The morning again was spent in the city. Some of yesterday's images had to be retaken.

In the afternoon we booked the flights we will need in August within Europe. Here is one for Marco: We fly from Zurich to Paris - via Dusseldorf - the flight was Euro 0.01 per person... Of course that does not include taxes. The flight from Paris to Cologne was 1900% more expensive! Also taxes not included.

At around 5 PM Klaus wanted to go for dinner. He is getting old, I mean really old..!

So, now I have to go and watch 60 Minutes (wow, their website sucks big time!), The Amazing Race (I would love to be a participant in this race once), and The Apprentice LA finale (Donald please no more of this apprentice LA crap. Thank you.).

Downtown

tulips

I went downtown with Klaus. He had to get a massage and I wandered off to take some pictures. As I was standing in front of a flower pot by the TD Bank building, I hear somebody repeatedly saying: "Hey sister." Well since I don't have a sister and I also do not react to strangers talking, I just kept on focussing on taking the images.

But eventually the guy who was trying to catch my attention walked into focus. It was one of those homeless people, too ill to maintain a "normal" life. He asked me if I could buy him a hot dog and a pop. I was more than willing to do so and asked him if one is enough. After all one does not know when this poor guy is getting his next meal.

The object of my affection

BMW 318i

I went car shopping tonight. I found this beauty online and had to go and have a look at it. It's a year older than mine but has 50,000 KM less, and it has leather interior. Sweet!

There will be no buying this car. The dealer only wants to pay $6000.00 for my car. I don't think so!

Fireplace

Gel Fireplaces

I never lived in place that had a fireplace. Living in an apartment never gave us a choice. It would not have been possible to install a fireplace just like that. No strata council probably would give permission to do so.

Finally there is a solution for apartment dwellers: gel fireplaces. The good thing is they are not stationary.

Olympic flag

Olympic flag

Paralympic, Olympic, and Canada flag

I finally had an opportunity to take a shot of the Olympic flag as I was stuck in construction traffic in front of city hall. The Olympic flag is HUGE!

Economic impact

Wednesday was the longest night - and first morning - in the Canucks' National Hockey League history, as Vancouver opened its Stanley Cup tournament by blowing a two-goal, third-period lead before beating the Stars 5-4 in quadruple overtime.

Of course last night's game is the talk of the town. Also everybody who stayed up watching it is rather tired as they did not go to bed until 1230 AM. I wonder what impact these sleep deprived hockey fans have on the economy… As a result of people probably going to work later than scheduled, there was no traffic on the road this morning.

My hockey addicted co-worker was suffering from not having gotten enough sleep as well.

Le Cirque

Bonjour Esther,
Yesterday morning something exciting happened in the Old Port of Montreal... The official name of Cirque 2007 was announced! KOOZA tells the story of The Innocent, a melancholy loner in search of his place in the world.
A return to the origins of Cirque du Soleil, KOOZA combines two circus traditions—acrobatic performance and the art of clowning...

I can not wait!!!
