Saturday, August 30, 2008 The end of yet another era
So I had my last day at work on Friday. There was no Wehmut at all as I am so excited about my new ventures. I for sure will not miss the airport work. I will miss many of the 160 people I worked with and I will miss standing outside the jet bridge on a warm summer evening watching planes while we are waiting for the plane to get ready for boarding. I fly out to JFK on Tuesday and stay in Farmingdale on Long Island until September 19. I for sure plan to go into Manhattan on the weekends with my camera. I also want to visit the MoMA. I do not have the school schedule yet. I only know that we will spend Wednesday in the print shop. Art class!!! [ back to top ] Thursday, August 28, 2008 The end of an other era
Today I had my last Singapore flight. I worked for that airline for almost eleven years. Singapore Airlines is a fantastic carrier and has the most unique ground staff here in Vancouver. And today being my second last day at work, there had to be something grandiose happening... Zoom Airlines went out of business. Over the twelve years with Servisair I have seen many airlines come and go. And trust me, the writing is always on the wall. So tomorrow I still have to check into if the company has to pay the agents that were sent home without 24 hours notice given. Work just never stops... One thing I will miss for sure is stand on the bridge and look at aircrafts. From now on I will have to photograph them from behind glass again. After 10 1/2 years I had my last KLM shift today. Tomorrow will be the last Singapore Airlines shift. And on Friday will be socializing and reminiscing about the past. [ back to top ] Saturday, August 23, 2008 Ma vie
We celebrated the purchase of the business at Glowbal tonight. The necklace was a Christmas gift. [ back to top ] Friday, August 22, 2008 I am a business owner!
Email from Neil: I spoke with B. this morning and she is going to accept the offer. I have the travel department working on your flights... [ back to top ] Thursday, August 21, 2008 The waiting game In my venture of purchasing an existing store instead of opening a new one, we put in the first offer at the beginning of the month. Since then we haggle and counter and counter each other's offers. This morning I put in the final. I should know by tomorrow if I will be owning a printing business by October 1. I really hope we will come to terms. [ back to top ] Saturday, August 16, 2008 It's very hot today!

Testing the macro lens. [ back to top ] Thursday, August 14, 2008 Small world I found this image on Flickr and left the following comment: Oh my goodness! You grew up in the Terrassenhäusern..? That's fabulous! I had a school mate who grew up there as well. I think her name was Franziska S... but I am not sure anymore. His response: Esther, Just a cute little childhood story... I received the above necklace from Schenke Grosi when I was a little girl. One day it will be Mona's.
[ back to top ] Wednesday, August 6, 2008 Dinner theatre At dinner on Saturday the guy at the table next to us was in charge of entertainment. He was from the village. The girl that was with him either pretended she did not see him eat or was used to it. His main course was mashed potatoes, a wheel of corn on the cob and a steak. So the first load of mashed potatoes he piled onto his steak knife and then put the knife into his mouth as if it was a fork. The second load of potatoes he put on his fork which part of it then fell on his lap as he tried to eat it. The third mouthful he again put on the knife but at the same time he put the corn onto the fork. He then sat in front of the plate, both utensils sticking in the air while he was contemplating what to eat first. He eat the mashed potatoes first before eating the corn. Round four was about a third of his steak on the fork. He then bit off a piece, chewed it and finished the other half which was still on his fork, kind of like people eat ice cream. They then ordered dessert, but Klaus ruined the fun as he wanted to go. [ back to top ] Tuesday, August 5, 2008 Stanley Park Last night I went to Stanley Park to shoot some black & whites. My new camera shoots much nicer images. There is more softness and the colors are fabolous. [ back to top ] Saturday, August 2, 2008 HSBC Celebration of Light

About 2012
2011 2010 2009 2008 2007 Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever... it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.
