Friday, June 27, 2008 The airline industry I was working the Singapore flight yesterday. As the plane was not able to push back because of too much traffic, I talked to one of the SQ employees about the future of passenger flying. I mentioned that it will head towards what it used to be: a method of transport for the rich and privileged. In one segment of the Swiss magazine Kulturplatz the subject was the same. It was mentioned that 1970 a plane ticket Zurich - New York cost Fr. 2400 which today would be Fr. 7000. [ back to top ] Thursday, June 26, 2008 Photo shoot at the Westin
[ back to top ] Saturday, June 21, 2008 Corteo
It was spectacular!!! Corteo, which means "cortege" in Italian, is a joyous procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown. The show brings together the passion of the actor with the grace and power of the acrobat to plunge the audience into a theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity situated in a mysterious space between heaven and earth. The clown pictures his own funeral taking place in a carnival atmosphere, watched over by quietly caring angels. Juxtaposing the large with the small, the ridiculous with the tragic and the magic of perfection with the charm of imperfection, the show highlights the strength and fragility of the clown, as well as his wisdom and kindness, to illustrate the portion of humanity that is within each of us. The music, by turns lyrical and playful, carries Corteo through a timeless celebration in which illusion teases reality. [ back to top ] Tuesday, June 17, 2008 Dahlia

June 17: Ok, this location will not be happening. The rent was already $4666.00 when we looked at it at first. It has since increased to $5541.00 because the owners decided to increase the strata lot. If it wasn't already in the scary digits, now it's just out of my reach. I just need to keep looking. [ back to top ] Friday, June 13, 2008 Friday my day is done, I am on the way to a fabulous flower store and will do the same thing: be with my favorite things flowers and camera. The store lady said they have Calla lilies. They better!!! Then I will go and have dinner with my man happy thoughts! So I went to the flower store on Davie Street, the store shall remain unnamed, and had a look at their Callas. The lady on the phone said they were not quite open. The way I saw it was that they were five minutes away from a cardiac arrest! [ back to top ] Thursday, June 12, 2008 Erdbeer-Saison
[ back to top ] Wednesday, June 11, 2008 Autofreie Sonntage Am 25.11.1973 ist es soweit: Autofreier Sonntag. Auch an den drei darauffolgenden Sonntagen darf bis auf wenige Ausnahmen kein Auto fahren: Ölkrise. 35 Jahre später ist die Menschheit noch genauso dumm... Vancouver hosted the Triathlon World Championships over the weekend. Apparently the biggest sports event before the Olympic games. Unfortunately the weather was really lousy. Klaus volunteered for the event and was sent home on Saturday as the ocean swim had to be cancelled because the water was so choppy. [ back to top ] Wednesday, June 4, 2008 The life of a tulip
[ back to top ] Sunday, June 1, 2008 The alarm clock
One more thing about yesterday's Day of Service. We started out with an orientation about the work Gather & Give Charitable Foundation does for the community. After the intro Jennifer explained how we would perfrom our task of sorting the donations. We were about 14 people and therfore work got done quite fast. After that we were given the opportunity to prepare five care packages. Two of those packages with household goods were for people in the Downtown East Side. People living in the Downtown East Side are almost all drug and alkohol addicted. It very much reminds me of the Landesmuseum Park in Zurich way back when. The client, Jen and I had, was a resident of the Downtown East Side. He did not ask for many things at all; bedding, ashtray, garbage bin, and some more items plus an alarm clock. The container labelled "alarm clocks" only had a small battery operated radio in it. So we were not able to give him the alarm clock. This got me thinking. One can be as cynical as one wants but for some reason I thought maybe this guy is really trying to turn his life around and give it serious shut. Maybe he wants to get a job and as a result of that needs to get up on time. I would have loved to donate my alarm clock. I guess I will never know. [ back to top ] |
About 2010
2009 2008 2007 Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever... it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.
